Hi there, you’ve found the About page!
This Substack belongs to Kat Tenbarge, a senior digital culture reporter at Insider. It functions as a sporadic blog and collection of essays about Gen Z celebrity culture.
What is Gen Z celebrity culture?
Gen Z is roughly the generation of people born between 1995 and 2015. This generation’s celebrity culture is defined by the internet. It’s derived from the legacy of 2000s tabloids and reality TV. It lives in Hollywood but is accessible on every corner of the planet. It’s TikTok and YouTube and Netflix and Instagram. It’s Billie Eilish and Lil Nas X and e-girls and e-boys and e-kids. It’s living and breathing, dead and six feet underground already.
